Nearly half of us eat curry at least once a week - we can't get enough of it but, with less than a third of us actually cooking curries at home, we thought we'd give people the skills and confidence to get to grips with this often daunting cooking style and show just how simple it can be.
To get everyone involved in cooking at home, we enlisted the help of Indian chef Cyrus Todiwala and rugby legend and Dancing on Ice winner, Kyran Bracken, to show everyone just how easy it really is to make a homemade curry.
Kyran wasn't exactly a dab hand in the kitchen, so we asked Cyrus to go through some quick and easy curries with him to show just how easy they are to prepare and popped them both in front of a camera to pass the lessons on to you. The videos are peppered with funny moments and some great tips and tricks to cooking yourself a tasty curry at home. If you've not seen them yet, take a look.
So, it was on Thursday 13 October when the nation got together for the first ever Big Curry Cook-in. If you didn't get the chance to join in, don't worry, it's not too late to try it for yourself - autumn is the perfect season for cooking a nice warming curry and with our tasty recipes, videos and tips you'll find it's much simpler than you might think (even easier for the 20 lucky radio listeners across the country who won themselves a fab curry prize of a spice set, balti dishes and recipe book)!
Another lucky few won a pestle and mortar set for being quick off the mark in answering some of our curry questions on Facebook and Twitter. The competitions have now closed but we'd still love to see your homemade curry dishes so send your photos in to bigcurry@simplybeefandlamb.co.uk.
For more recipes, tips, ideas and to see the photo entries, head over to the Big Curry Cook-in pages and don't forget the recipes section or this autumn's Simply Beef and Lamb.
