Sticky Denver Steaks

This steak is prepared from a single muscle out of the chuck. It is succulent, full of flavour and good value for money. It is cooked simply with a little sweet chilli sauce or mango chutney and served with a yogurt relish.

Ingredients

  • 2 lean beef Denver steaks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 shallots or 1 small red onion, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons prepared sweet chilli sauce or mango chutney
  • 100ml plain Greek yogurt
  • Fresh rocket leaves, to garnish

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying or griddle pan. Season the steaks and cook according to your preference with the shallots or onions.
  2. Before removing the steaks brush each steak with tablespoon of the sweet chilli sauce or mango chutney.
  3. Meanwhile, combine the remaining sweet chilli sauce or mango chutney with the yogurt.
  4. Transfer the steaks and onions to a warm plate. Cover with foil and leave to rest for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Serve the steaks with the yogurt relish, chips, roasted cherry tomatoes and salad leaves.

Tips:

If preferred, cook the steaks on a prepared barbecue on under a preheated grill and cook the onions separately.
